General Transport

Machinery, equipment, or anything that doesn't fit a standard category. Describe your item and let transporters quote.

What Can Be Transported?

Almost anything that can be loaded onto a vehicle. Our transporters regularly move industrial machinery, construction equipment, generators, compressors, printing presses, CNC machines, hot tubs, garden sheds, shipping containers, large furniture, palletised goods, and more. If it has dimensions and a weight, a transporter can quote on it. The key is providing accurate information so the transporter can plan the right vehicle and loading equipment.

Accurate Descriptions Get Better Quotes

The more detail you provide, the more accurate your quotes will be. Include length, width, height, and weight. Add photos if possible — they help transporters assess the load and plan equipment. Mention any special requirements: does it need to stay upright? Is it fragile? Does it need to be kept dry? Can it be lifted from the top or must it be loaded from the side? Clear descriptions prevent surprises on collection day.

Heavy and Oversized Items

Items that exceed standard road dimensions or weight limits need specialist transport. This might involve low-loader trailers, hiab cranes, escort vehicles, or police permits depending on the size. Our transporters have experience with abnormal loads and will handle all the logistics. For very heavy or wide items, expect longer lead times to arrange permits — plan 2 to 4 weeks ahead.

Machinery and Equipment

Moving industrial machinery requires careful planning. Transporters need to know not just the dimensions and weight, but how the item can be loaded — forklift, crane, ramp, or hiab. Some machines need to be drained of fluids or have components removed for transport. If your machinery is bolted to a floor, you may need to arrange disconnection separately. Our transporters can advise on the best approach for your specific equipment.

How Pricing Works

General transport pricing is based on the size and weight of the item, the distance, and the equipment needed. A hot tub moved 50 miles on a flatbed might cost £200 to £400. A 5-tonne machine moved 200 miles could be £500 to £1,500 or more. Items requiring crane loading or special permits cost more. The only way to get an accurate price is to describe your item clearly and compare quotes from multiple transporters.

FAQ

Is there a weight or size limit?
There are no hard limits on our platform. Describe your item with accurate dimensions and weight, and transporters who have the right equipment will quote. For very heavy or oversized loads, specialist operators with low-loaders, hiab cranes, and abnormal load permits are available through our network.
Do I need to package my item?
It depends on the item. Robust machinery may not need packaging. Fragile or delicate items should be crated or wrapped. Discuss protection requirements with your transporter before the move. They can often advise on the right level of protection for your specific item.
Can you transport internationally?
Yes. Our transporters cover UK and European routes. For international general transport, customs requirements may apply depending on the item and destination country. Provide full details when posting your job.
How do I load heavy items?
Your transporter will bring the right loading equipment — forklift, crane, hiab, ramps, or winch depending on the item. If you have loading equipment on site (such as a forklift), mention this when posting the job as it can make the process faster and may reduce costs.
